Welcome to the Deaf Awareness Month Art Competition 2023, presented by Convo South Africa in collaboration with HandLab from Stellenbosch University, Sign Language Education and Development (SLED), and the Centre for Deaf Studies at the University of Witwatersrand.

Competition Theme: A World Where Deaf People Can Sign Anywhere!

Express your art:

Get creative with drawing, painting, sculpting, or any artistic medium! Imagine a deaf individual as a superhero communicating through the Convo app – let your art reflect the power of communication and the accessibility of sign language.

Who can participate?

Calling all Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and deafblind children aged 9 to 12! Join us in celebrating creativity and communication as we explore limitless possibilities together.

Exciting Prizes Await!

First place - R500 cash, a Convo T-shirt, HandLab and WITS Centre for Deaf Studies storybooks, and a bag.

Second place - R300 cash, a Convo T-shirt, HandLab and WITS Centre for Deaf Studies storybooks, and a bag.

Third place - R200 cash, a Convo T-shirt, HandLab and WITS Centre for Deaf Studies storybooks, and a bag.
